Pai Gow Poker Rules

This is an online casino game based on the Chinese Domino game Pai Gow. This online casino game variant can be played by up to seven players.

Pai Gow Poker makes use of the standard 53 card deck plus a joke which can be uses as an Ace or to complete a straight, flush or a straight flush. Every player has to put a wager before the deal. As soon as this is done, on each deal the dealer plays against the other players.

In Pai Gow Poker, seven cards are dealt to each player. Everybody except the dealer is allowed to look at their cards. The seven cards are then divided into two separate hands, one two card hand and another five card hand. The hand strength of the five card hand is same as that of poker. The only change being A-2-3-4-5 is the second highest type of straight or straight flush, ranking between A-K-Q-J-10 and K-Q-J-10-9. Five aces is the highest hand, beating a straight flush. As far as the two cards hand is concerned, any pair beats any two unmatched cards.

The players must set up the hand in such a way that the five card is higher than the two card hand. As soon as the players put their two hands face down, the dealer's cards are exposed. Now, the dealer arranges his two hands, one of five cards and another of two cards.

This is the stage of the game when the player' cards exposed. Now the corresponding five cards and two cards of the players and dealer are compared. The following combination of results is possible:

  1. If the player wins both hands, the dealer pays out the amount of the wager placed by the player.
  2. If the dealer and the player win a hand each then is no payout. This is called a "Push".
  3. If the dealer wins both hands, the players' stake goes to the dealer.

Player loses the hand if:

  1. Dealer wins one hand and other is tied
  2. Both hands are tied
  3. Dealer wins

If the result is a tie and a win for the player, then it's a "Push". So in order for the player to win, the dealer has to lose both hands.
